Welcome fellow HP Jornada users, I offer you one of the greatest games you can run on your device: doomcesh3.zip Jimmy says it doesn't exist, and that it doesn't run well enough on the HP Jornada.
Lies, all lies; it runs fine, and it does exist. A Few Notes...
- I did not make this game nor did I make this port. id software made Doom (duh), and the port was done by JimmySoftware (ironically, the same company that claimed it didn't exist).
- You'll need at least 8 MB of free program memory to run.
- Make sure the doom4ce.wad file is in the same directory as doom.exe.
- Don't forget to enable button mapping. It's in your device's Settings thing (start -> settings -> system tab -> hp game butons). I suggest using wheelup to move forward, wheeldown to move backwards, button one to turn left, button two to turn right, and button 4 to fire. This allows you to move backwards/forwards as well as shoot or turn.
- A different .wad file, one that has levels (such as the shareware levels), to play. This can be placed anywhere on your device (a storage card works fine, and is suggested, since these files can get large).
- The latest version of GAPI is required to play this game. Download it here, and make sure it gets into your device's windows directory!
- From what I've heard, this game does not work on the new (well, not really new anymore) HP Jornada 525 devices. People have told me that they see nothing but diagonal lines across the screen, while the keyboard does appear. I'm assuming this has something to do with the fact that HP 525s only have 256 colors.
- I know Tripod--ugh--but hey, it works, and it's better than destroying the bandwidth I actually pay for at niaad.com. No annoying popups, right?
